ABOUT ME
I remember watching the T.V. show America's Best Dance Crew as a sixteen-year-old kid in between school and soccer practice. I wanted nothing more than to be one of the Jabbawockeez, but with no rhythm and no lessons, I knew it would take some serious hard work. I learned the basic elements of dance in classes at Burnet High School and the rest I learned from YouTube videos. I spent hours practicing moves like breakdancing and popping in front of my bedroom mirror.
After I entered my first dance competition, I was in love. In my first moments standing onstage, I decided this was my future. While I didn't have the same traditional dance training as my competitors, the hours I spent teaching myself from online tutorials was starting to pay off. I began placing within the top ten overall at competitions, winning performance and showmanship awards, and earning scholarships to programs such as the New York Dance Experience. This led to multiple opportunities as an instructor and a performer. I was hired for my first teaching job at Studio 29 back home in Burnet, TX. I then booked dance performances in numerous music videos, shows, and began traveling to work with artists including Sean Paul, K Camp, Tory Lanez, and D Woods.
No longer a boy without rhythm, I've been fortunate to train and take classes from many industry choreographers such as Matt Steffanina, NappyTabs, and Nick DeMoura. I've choreographed at multiple schools, camps, workshops, intensives, and have been an instructor at various studios throughout the Austin area. For the past 9 years, I've been a faculty member with Dupree Dance Convention.
I fell into film in a similar manner. I'd seen videos from popular classes in Los Angeles and wanted my dancers to have the same opportunities. Since I didn't know of any dance videographers in Austin, I again took to YouTube! I studied camera settings, equipment, film techniques, and audio production. Simultaneously, I learned the art of video editing in Premiere Pro and various other Adobe Creative Software. Not only did I become popular for my own class videos but other choreographers began to hire me to film their classes as well.
It wasn't long before outside industries saw my work. I began shooting promotional content for industries including real estate, automotive, and financial services.
I laugh when I think back to building my first phone gimbal myself from some PVC pipes, knowing that today I've worked my way up to some of the finest equipment film production has to offer. Looking back at the bright-eyed, ambitious boy I once was, I am beyond proud of the skills I've mastered, the career I've built, and the accomplishments I've earned, though I know I am only getting started! I look forward to what lies ahead and to whoever may be reading this, I look forward to working with you!
